La Petite Maison's Drink – How to Make It

WThis is an easy interpretation of a beverage from the seasonal menu. It's a batch prepared mix that is packed with flavours of the Christmas time, rendering it perfect for hosting a celebration. Save the extra cordial you can use for breakfast cocktails, sweets, or to make more rounds of bikinis.

Yields 10 guests

For the Clementine Syrup (produces 750ml)

300ml recently pressed clementine juice
200ml recently pressed lemon juice
500g caster sugar

Ingredients for the Cocktail (yields 850ml, enough for 10)

400ml premium vodka
100ml London dry gin
150ml peach-flavored liqueur
200ml clementine syrup (see above)
Fresh cranberries, as a garnish
Mandarin essential oil, as a final touch

Method

To prepare the Syrup: Place all the ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Then, remove from the burner allowing it to reach room temperature entirely. Pour into a sealable bottle, close it and refrigerate it in the refrigerator, where it will keep for around four weeks.

For the Cocktail Base: Combine all the spirits and syrup in a sizeable container, leave to sit for one hour, then filter it , ideally through cheesecloth, so it's completely strained.

For serving: Pour 85ml of the batch mix to a mixing glass containing ice, gently stirring lightly for about 60 seconds to chill. Strain to a cold coupe glass or a similar vessel, decorate with a few cranberries and complete it by giving it a light spray of the essential oil over the drink.
